Chocobo gift ~cross stitch~ by snowyMelon Chocobo gift ~cross stitch~ by snowyMelon
Chocobo cross stitch I made as a gift for my boyfriend for Christmas ^.^ He loves Final Fantasy and Chocobos and I had a lot of yellow thread after making Pikachu so I thought it's a good idea~

I made few mistakes in this one >.< I'm mad at myself because of them but still it looks way better than my first piece~

As always I didn't follow colour-scheme from pattern XD (ahh I'm so glad my mum and grandma have A LOT of threads XD)
I had to choose colours for the box thingy myself 'cause I wanted it blue.. not pink-red as it was in the pattern.. I like how it looks but my bf said that colours looks too similiar and it looks like a big splash of something T___T I guess we, women REALLY can see more colours XD

pattern is from: :iconmakibird-stitching: you can find it here: [link]

That looks gorgeous, thank you for sharing! You could always add backstitching to the lines of the box in one strand of a darker blue.

Thank you ^.^ Maybe I will try to do it but I've never made backstitvhing before so I will practise on something else first~ I like this idea!

Sorry again about not commenting right away, but this is adorable! It takes me back; my grandmother taught me to cross stitch when I was younger and, to this day, it holds a special place. I think that's why when I saw cross stitch mixed with my love of all things Chocobo/Final Fantasy. So I wanted to include it at the community. Now you're motivating me to find the old patter books and/or do something a final fantasy.

Also, I think you picked the perfect colors; the yellows blend well, but still allow enough variation for shading. You did a great job and I didn't see the mistakes right off, but even if they're there - they're not noticeable at first glance at least to a person who doesn't do it that often. Again, he (she?) looks wonderful! .Be proud! :D

Awww *____* that's the cutest comment I've ever get *hugs*
I was taught to cross stitch by my mother but my grandma cross-stitched too so I understand you ^.^ You should look for some Final Fantasy pattern! There are a lot and some of them are really easy to do!
Thanks a lot :*:* it means really A LOT to me <3

I love you forever! I'm so glad you showed me the link. My mother still has all the colors... I have a 14 year old and she went through a bracelet phase many years ago, so pretty much surrendered all my thread to her.

I want to try the Rinoa, I wish there was a matching Squall, but I'm still thrilled enough!

And no problem on the comment, I meant it. I think it's little things like this (teaching cross stitch/crafts) that stick with us. I think at the time, I would've rather been with friends or watching the TV. But looking back years later, I'm glad nothing changed. I might've felt 'forced' at first, but I grew to love not only the hobby, but those memories. (I feel bad, she never actually ‘forced’ me, but I would’ve said yes, so she wouldn’t feel bad, even if I didn’t want to out of politeness, but now I’m so glad I did.) Also… I hadn’t thought about it in years, we’d always drink a big glass of lemonade. I’m not sure why I remembered that all of a sudden, decades later, but so glad I did. It was always…too strong, so I waited until the ice melted. Oh wow, I’d completely forgot. (Sorry, being nostalgic!)

I go through phases now where I want to make things, it's been a few years... but I have a 14 year old daughter, and I think maybe working on something with her would be perfect. I'm glad I saw this, thank you so much for everything - and joining :iconchocobo-cactuar-mog: Looking forward to talking to you in the future!

Hah! I made frendship braceletes too and my mum was always mad at me stealing her threads XD

About doing something together.. you should go for it! I always love doing something like cooking/baking/crafting with my mum ^.^ Your daughter will have beautiful memories even if not today - surely in the future!

And about making things - I started when I didn't have computer/internet and there was a time free from school... I never liked doing thing like that but then... I was sooo bored that on the first day I started to sew a dress for my Barbie doll (yes, at my age X..X) XD And when I finally got my computer back... I couldn't stop making things! It's much more interesting than games and I'm always soo proud of it!
